I started diving in November 2002 in a dutch swimming pool, while my boyfriend was doing some real diving in Sosua. In March 2003 I got my Open Water in Hurghada Egypt by dive-centre Voodoo Divers. I had a dutch instructor so I was totally at ease. At my first boat-dive I was incredibly lucky to see two turtles. Moreover at the surface at the end of our dive three dolphins came to visit us for a short moment. But for me this was enough to be left flabbergasted and obsessed with diving ever since.
When I am not diving I am earning some money in the world of infrastructure. I am a projectmanager of different projects like engineering sewage and construction of residential zones, land development. But I used to be hydraulic / coastal engineer. I am 35 years old and my other hobby is playing the drums. |

| Well I started my experience in Hurghada in March 2003 with my boyfriend René Thijssen. I did two house reef dives at Voodoo's and 8 boat-dives. Our next dive adventure was at Koh Tao, Thailand in September 2003. Here I had my first seasickness-experience and did 6 boat-dives. Rene and I are just returned home from diving at Bonaire, see our contribution of 20 divesites and we haven't seen all of the sites in Bonaire yet. In 2006 we went to the Philippines. There I did my PADI Advanced Diver. The Visayas are very beautiful. I cannot decide whether to return to Bonaire or the Visayas first. |

Of course like I said my first boat-dive meeting dolphins was great.
And after 4 years of diving, I can say that Apo Island at the south of Cebu Island is the best diving so far!! Many soft corals, all kinds of reef fish, to much to explain!! |

| I really want to see manta's and whalesharks and maybe I have to go to Yap to see this!! |

| I like warm water temperatures, so I don't like diving in my own country The Netherlands. I was in March 2002 in Egypt, but even that was quite cold. So next time I like to go to Egypt in September, when the water has heatened up. My favorite place so far is Bonaire, it's so relaxed to drive with your car to a divesite and do 3 shoredives each day (or more if you can). Really something different if you're used to boatdives. Another favorite are the Philippines! |
